Bistreich's Ode to the NYSID

An Ode to the NYSID
by Barry Bistreich
(the following farewell poem was provided to all attendees at Barry's October 2011 luncheon)

I graduated Hunter, and got a degree in "rocks"
Then ended up working in insurance
And that you really can't mock!
I can't believe I've been here for 41 years and it "rocks"
I've had a chance to learn, grow and expand
Now it's time to "fill my socks"!

You know how much I love my Jeep
Almost as much as I love to eat!
Auto insurance, Property and Health
Have been my whole life, the cards have been dealt.

So now what do I do at 5:30 A.M.
With nowhere to go and insurance still in my head?
I really will miss Consumer Services and such,
All the companies and policies . . . and mostly, lunch!

I want to say "Thank You" for all who took part
In making my life happy, you hold a place in my heart.
Thanks for your friendship and support over the years,
It's time to enjoy life, but I will miss my peers.

I'll fondly remember Insurance Department days,
And all the people I could never repay
Putting up with my jokes, my rabbits and trains,
You really are special and tried to keep me sane!
